Cries From the Manger
Planning to be new parents is stressful enough for young couples without having something else, like a census for taxation, being added to the list. Mary and Joseph were dealing with enough already. There is the unexplainable pregnancy, the questions of paternal parentage, getting a livable house ready and that is without the normal things of trying to get ready for a newborn. Nonetheless, as we have just seen in the scriptures, they take a 90-mile journey south and head for Bethlehem. Mary and Joseph are seen as adults and now it’s time for them to ‘adult’ and go register for Roman taxation.
In this message “Cries from the Manger” (Luke 2:1-7), we will see the expectations that surround the new couple as they are married, expecting a child and all of the other responsibilities that go along with it.
