The Importance of One
This Sunday's message is intended to re-fire our enthusiasm for the "Importance of One" (John 1:43-49). In business, we may not see the number 'one' as being something to build a resume' on or having one dollar in a savings account as being defined as 'financially solvent'. But the Bible consistently points to the importance of the number one; one pearl of great price, one sheep, one coin or one wayward son that has come home. Modern-day disciples must once again see the importance of one invite, one message of hope, one neighbor or one friend. Phillip is attempting to win his "One" and his "One" is his friend Nathanael. Nathanael is important to Phillip, so Phillip is not easily shooed away by Nathanael's sarcastic response about some guy named Jesus from Nazareth. At first, Nathanael may not have been excited about this 'Messiah' but Phillip sure was! Let's make 'one' important again.
