Todd Rice: Youth and Children's Message: November
The Children and Youth Transition at Park Place is Well Underway
Grace and Peace in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Let me first start off by thanking everyone on behalf of myself, Joyce and the boys for a gracious and warm reception into the Park Place Family. As I stated on another occasion, we already felt this closeness prior to joining, but it is wonderful to have made it official at homecoming.
The transition in our youth program is well underway and I hope that the changes in the demeanor and disposition of the children is becoming more evident each week. Right now, I am focusing on behavior. I think that these changes are necessary early on, to ensure we have a good foundation and put out fires that are counterproductive to our overall goal of helping the children to feel part of our church rather than simply visitors each week.
In an effort to ensure the safety of the children and to compile emergency and contact information on each child, I created a new transportation form. This form gathers information like name, date of birth, guardian/ parental names, phone numbers and email. We needed this to ensure that the children that ride the bus have permission to come on the bus and property of the church. It also had disclosures for release of photos and videos of the children and full disclosure for any health or medical conditions that we need to be aware of.
We sent this form out with each child and received 25 forms back with 36 registered children and parental names and contacts. I will be recording these names on a spreadsheet which will be used for not only attendance, but conduct documentation as well. Lastly, I will be working on a new Park Place Youth Newsletter that will go out to the parents on a monthly basis, keeping them up to speed with church agendas and events for their kids.
Together, we will make a difference in the community and again, thank you for your support.
